Lamont is a small town in Alberta, Canada. It was founded near the railway that was built to transport coal mined in the Crowsnest Pass. The village of Lamont has been designated as a heritage district by the province’s historical resource legislation. There are nine buildings that have been declared Municipal Historic Resources, and in 1993 the heritage district was added to the Alberta Register of Historic Places. The village of Lamont is located on Highway 3A, approximately northwest of Lethbridge and south-west of Drumheller.
The community’s heritage dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when coal mining began in 1906 by the Galt Coal and Coke Company, a subsidiary of The Alberta Railway and Coal Company (ARCC) operating under the legal name Alberta Coal and Coking Company. The first homes were built for miners in 1908 and in 1910 more housing was added for company officials.

There is even a trail head for an optional hike to Whiskey Jack Point!
