The most famous restaurant in Legal, Alberta is the Red Rooster. It's an old-school diner that serves a variety of fried foods and some good country cooking.
One thing to be on the lookout for when ordering from the Red Rooster is their "special sauce". Known for being a little different - it's always bubbling and very spicy - there are rumors about what's in it but nobody seems to know for sure.
Another one of our favorite spots would have to be D&D Diner. The menu has all sorts of delicious comfort food and they've got plenty of specials written up on the board just waiting to be ordered.
Shopping in Legal, Alberta
Many of the stores in Legal are sale-oriented, so it pays to be vigilant. The best bargains can be found at the end of season, as retailers look to clear space for new merchandise. Even in these cases though you can find excellent deals on designer clothing, shoes, and accessories throughout the year. It is also possible to find unique gift items, especially from local artisans.
During the day, it is easy to find the occasional bargain at discount stores like the Wal-Mart and other big box chains. However, these stores tend to provide low quality goods. In-store bakeries, for example, provide poor quality pastries and don't even offer air conditioning. Locals consider these establishments to be "pot-lucks" rather than places for shopping.
