The Jemez Mountains is the breathtaking backdrop for the Fenton Lake State Park in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Surrounded by beautiful ponderosa pines, the park is ideal of wildlife viewing and hiking, and with the Rio Cebolla running through it, it's also excellent for fishing and canoeing. The river is well-stocked with rainbow trout and German brown trout; ice fishing is also popular there. Eagle Nest Lake State Park is located in Eagle Nest on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway. Expect a stunning landscape with the incredibly high mountains of the Moreno Valley. At an 8,300 foot elevation, the campground enjoys mild weather conditions and fresh breezes. The Brushy Point Campground is located at the Heron Lake State Park, and is set among the picturesque tall pines of northern New Mexico. Get on the lake surface to enjoy a peaceful and easy-going float on the lake, and be sure to cast a few lines to catch record-sized trout and kokanee salmon. Ice fishing is very popular during the winter, as is cross-country skiing. During the warmer months, be sure to hike, bike and picnic your way around the lake, taking in the beautiful natural terrain as you go. 

Visit Lake Sumner to enjoy the exquisite terrain iconic of the southwest. Bring your camera to capture tall, looming mountains in the background and acres of forested plains. The park is popular maong people who love watersports, but also offers excellent trails and pathways for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Enjoy swimming, boating and of course excellent fly fishing while you're there. The park is also close to Santa Fe, and is a great stopping point if you're headed that way. The park is also relatively close to the Bosque Redondo Memorial and Fort Sumner. 

The East Side Campground is located at Sumner Lake, New Mexico and is a great place for a quiet yet adventurous southwestern vacation. Enjoy excellent fishing at the lake for trout, bass, crappie and walleye, and plenty of water surface for water sports such as swimming, boating, canoeing and paddle boarding. Of course, with so much open area to explore, many campers go on long hikes or bike rides along the trails or make their own paths. Also be sure to keep your eyes open around dawn or dusk for one of those iconic New Mexico sunrises or sunsets. You won't be disappointed. 

The New Canyon Campground is located in Mountainair New Mexico in the Cibola National Forest. Look forward to acres and acres of juniper, ponderosa pine and gambel oaks as well as the fresh, crisp air that comes with such a thick and lush forest. Hit the short but scenic Coal Mine Natural Trail, or carve your own path through the trees whether hiking or mountain biking. Also look forward to picnicking, cave exploration and star gazing. This is an excellent place to immerse yourself in nature and have a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

Known for its excellent hiking opportunities, the La Laja Campground is on Heron Lake State Park. Also enjoy water sports such as canoeing, kayaking and boating as well as cross-country skiing during the winter months. With such a breathtaking landscape around the lake, campers can also look forward to landscape and wildlife viewing. 

The Blanco Campground is located in the Heron Lake State Park, Los Ojos, New Mexico. The picturesque Heron Lake is located among the  gorgeous talls pines native to New Mexico, and long-time campers love this area because it's a designated "quiet lake." Boat operators cannot get up to wake speeds, meaning there's not only peacefulness for visitors to enjoy, but a still water surface for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Campers also love fishing at this lake. Look forward to kokanee salmon and record-size trout. There's also plenty to see for the wildlife viewer; keep your eyes open for osprey, bald eagles, mule deer, elk, deer and mountain lions.
