At an elevation of over 7,000 feet, the Ponderosa Horse Campground is the perfect place for a nice, cool getaway into the mountains of New Mexico. The site is located between Lake Alice and Lake Maloya in Sugarite Canyon, and is just 6 miles from the Bandelier National Monument, meaning there's tons to do and see, and lots of natural terrain to explore. The town of Los Alamos is also close by for your shopping needs, and there are museums, theaters and even an ice rink near the campground. The Salmon Run Campground is located at the Heron Lake State Park and is a great place to connect with nature. The lake is designated as a "quiet lake," so no wake-speeds are permitted among boat operators. This means visitors can enjoy peaceful paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking excursions, as well as fishign for trout and salmon. In the winter months, ice fishing and cross crountry skiing are popular, so plan for that! On land, campers can enjoy hiking the great trails, biking, pinicking and wildlife viewing.
