The park is small and secluded, so take advantage of the wonderful New Mexico quiet and especially the knowledgeable staff who are like walking history books. Some visitors like to visit the nearby cemetery which has some interesting headstones, but everyone should swing by the museum; it's well worth it. The artist coop has excellent displays and all reasonably priced. It's a great place to get souvenirs. There's one beautifully restored historic cabin, so call in early to reserve.

The Joe Skeen BLM is located in Grants, New Mexico and was established in 1987 protect nationally significant ecological, cultural, geological, scenic, scientific and wilderness resources located around the Grants Lava Flows. Closer to the town center are attractions like Madonna of the trail, Casa Malpais and the White Mountain Dinosaur Exploration Center. At Becker Lake for trout fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. And of course, travelers can expect wide, open skies for sunset viewing and stargazing.
