The City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the incredible volcanic rock formations found here. The park is a mile from the scenic Chihuahuan Desert Region of southwest New Mexico, and stands at an elevation of 5,200 feet. The geological formation is made up of large, sculpted rock columns and pinnacles rising as high as 40 feet, and separated by paths or lanes resembling streets. After years of natural erosion, the formations have an almost other-worldly appearance, filling the landscape like towers against the beautiful New Mexico sky. 

Set against the breathtaking Sacramento Mountains, the Oliver Lee Memorial park features a historic ranch house, quiet camping in the Chihuahuan Desert, and the unique oasis of pools of water under the cottonwood trees of Dog Canyon. Visitors can look forward to a short walk on the Riparian Nature Trail or a challenging hike up the Dog Canyon Trail, as well as acres and acres of beautiful desert vistas. Picnicking and wildlife viewing are also popular activities at this site. Open all year round, park facilities include: water, group camping, electricity, restrooms, showers and dump stations. The Oliver Lee Memorial park is excellent for a quick getaway in one of Alamogordo's most scenic spots, and is popular for its clean amenities and great customer service. See you soon!

Located in the Lincoln National Forest, New Mexico are the Bluff Springs Dispersed Campsites. It is a partially developed picnic area with dispersed campsites with spectacular mountain views, and beautiful forestry all around. Take one of the trails around clumps of wildflowers, and be sure to catch at least one sunset or sunrise; have a camera handy! There's also a few small waterfalls within the park so keep your eyes open for that! Most visitors to this site go off to the Cloudcroft village to take advantage of the local sights and do some gift or food shopping. Maybe you'll be in time for one of the three annual festivals that take place in Zenith Park in the village.

The Holloman AFB FamCamp is used for military professionals and is located within the New Mexico Air Base. The park is safe and well-known for its easy access to sights like the White Sands National Monument, Space History Museum, CLoudcroft, Pistacio Farms, Ruidoso, White Sands Missile Range and the Organ Mountains. If you like history, you'll have a blast at this campground. 

Facing the Sacramento mountains to the east, the Elks Lodge 1897 is for members and visiting Elks only, and is a quiet place to get away for a few days. With full hookups, 30/50 amp sites, laundry facilities, showers, restrooms, WIFI and a restaurant on-site, this is a Alamogordo favorite. Visitors can enjoy golfing at a nearby golf course, the space hall of fame, the oldest zoo located in Alamogordo, the White Sand National Monument nearby, skiing, gambling, fishing and zip-lining. Elks Lodge 1897 has something for everyone and well-established to meet all guests' needs.

Take advantage of the spacious and well laid-out Desert Paradise Mobile Home & RV Village near the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. There are plenty of hiking trails near Orogrande or near High Rolls, and others at Cloudcroft. It's near several great attractions such as Cloudcroft, the Apache Reservation Casino and the White Sands Missile Range. Alamogordo is filled with history and beauty, and is popular for its outdoor sporting activities like biking and disc-surfing down the sand dunes of the White Sand Monument.

The beautiful Percha Dam State Park is located along the Rio Grande river and is shaded by cottonwood creating a cool, mild environment for visitors to enjoy. Look forward to hiking medium difficulty trails along the oasis-like terrain near the river, keep an eye out for birds, and of course enjoy the excellent fishing and boating at the Rio Grande.

Lower Karr Canyon Campground is an undeveloped campground scattered across the Karr Canyon Picnic Area. Explore the Lincoln National Park with its densely forested areas, beautiful hiking trails and clear skies. Standing over 7,500 feet above the desert floor, campers can enjoy warm weather that's not too harsh, and plenty of fresh air. Also take advantage of the horseback riding, biking and wildlife watching at this site for a true taste of untouched New Mexico terrain.

The Percha Flats Campground is located in the Caballo Lake State Park, and is nestled in an idyllic New Mexico setting popular among nature enthusiasts and photographers. Enjoy excellent conditions for swimming, kite boarding, wind surfing, climbing, canoeing and kayaking. Boating, fishing and hiking are also popular, as is wildlife viewing. Locals love this area for being quiet, and providing a lot of space and fresh air to enjoy nature without interruptions.

The Stallion Campground is located at Caballo Lake State Park, a beautiful New Mexico oasis. Enjoy water activities such as wind surfing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, kite boarding, swimming and fishing. Looking for land activities? This spot is popular for its excellent nature trails for hiking and bird watching, climbing and horseback riding.

With RV and tent sites available near the Caballo Lake, Appaloosa Campground is one of several campgrounds in the area. Popular especially among RVers who frequent the area, the campground is great for fishing at the lake, boating, wildlife viewing and of course, some pretty majestic New Mexico sunrises and sunsets. Walk to the nearby park office to chat with the rangers about the best canoeing, horseback riding and hiking spots in the area, and be sure to spread a blanket at least one evening to enjoy the cool twilight weather. The area is especially known for kite boarding and wind surfing so look forward to that!

Located near the serene Caballo Lake and mountain ranges is the Caballo Lake RV Park. If you're looking for a quiet getaway in an idyllic desert setting, you'll especially enjoy your time at this park. Look forward to a quick walk to the beach at dawn or visiting the gold mines of ghost town nearby. Unlike other parks, Caballo Lake RV Park doesn't have a nearby train creating noise pollution, which serial visitors to the lake especially appreciate. They also love the hot mineral baths near the site.
