Enjoy spectacular sights at the Wild River's Campground including deep, steep-sided canyons carved out by the Rio Grande River and the Red River through beautiful, volcanic rock. Go hiking on one of the three trails that descend to the river. Most campers visit for the camping, but there's plenty of sight seeing, photography and biking to be done, so bring everything you need to explore!

The Wild Rivers National Recreation Area is located within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and along the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River. That being said, expect some of the most untouched, breathtaking views of nature this side of the United States. Experience the beauty of an 800-foot deep canyon, volcanic flowers and naturally rugged vistas. The diverse terrain ensures the perfect environment for a flourishing flora and fauna ecosystem. While you hike the trails, look out for gorgeous birds and small animals, as well as beautiful blooming flowers and plants. Besides hiking, you can also go boating, fishing, biking, picnicking and scenic driving.

At an elevation of over 9,800 feet, Hopewell Lake Campground is filled not only with gorgeous mountain ranges and forestry, but crisp, fresh air. Located between Tres Pierdas and Tierra Amarilla, expect excellent outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking and tons of mountain biking. You can also fish for rainbow trout and brook at the 14 acres that makeup Hopewell Lake. Picnicking is another popular activity, and it's even better at dusk when you can enjoy beautiful New Mexico sunsets and star gazing. It's the perfect spot for your next quiet, nature getaway. 

The Elephant Rock Campground is located in the Carson National Forest, and is well-known for the Red River and Eagle Rock Lake being nearby. Campers can look forward to excellent fishing at the lakes, as well as opportunities for kayaking, swimming and boating. Visitors can also expect great hiking trails and large open areas for picnicking and exploring. The area is thick with thriving forestry, so prepare for some spectacular views, and occasional bird or deer roaming the mountain regions. 

The June Bug is located in the Red River Canyon in a gorgeous spruce-ponderosa forest. Fall in love with this New Mexico oasis at this park where you will find plenty of picnic tables and acres and acres of raw forest for exploration. There are also trails for hiking and biking, and wide open skies for stargazing. Be sure to look up at dawn and dusk to catch one of those iconic New Mexico sunrises or sunsets. The trees almost seem to absorb the noises around you, so look forward to a peaceful, relaxing getaway. 

The East Side Campground is located at Sumner Lake, New Mexico and is a great place for a quiet yet adventurous southwestern vacation. Enjoy excellent fishing at the lake for trout, bass, crappie and walleye, and plenty of water surface for water sports such as swimming, boating, canoeing and paddle boarding. Of course, with so much open area to explore, many campers go on long hikes or bike rides along the trails or make their own paths. Also be sure to keep your eyes open around dawn or dusk for one of those iconic New Mexico sunrises or sunsets. You won't be disappointed. 

Isleta Lakes & RV Park is located along the Rio Grande and is surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of New Mexico’s outdoors. Near Albuquerque, it features 50 full hookup campsites. The park offers free WiFi and allows pets.   Amenities & Activities Campsite amenities offered include a clubhouse, park store with food, drinks, and fishing supplies, a swimming pool, and two lakes stocked with Rainbow Trout and Channel Catfish. The Kirtland AFB campsite is located in Kirtland, New Mexico and is used for military camping only. The camp offers great conveniences to its visitors; campers can enjoy a gym on site, nearby bowling alley, excellent local dining, the National Museum of Nuclear Science, Old Town Sandia Crest, the Balloon Fiest and Santa Fe is nearby. Enjoy shopping at the nearby cities, and the beautiful, desert plains around the town.  

The Pilar Campground is a beautiful space to escape the hustle and bustle of life and embrace nature. Look forward to acres of gorgeous desert vista, streams and hills for hiking and biking. The town of Taos is also relatively close by, so be sure to swing by for supplies, shopping and plenty of local eateries to get a feel for the culture of the state. The area is also perfect for stargazing at night and catching those spectacular New Mexico sunrises and sunsets. 

For the serial Albuquerque camper, Palisades RV Park is a sweet home away from home. Quiet, and at the end of a long, beautiful drive, the park is nearby many local attractions such as museums, cultural centers, a zoo, aquarium and of course the international balloon festival park. The Jemez Falls Campground is located in a stunning ponderosa pine and forest area to the east of the East Fork Jemez River. Look forward to amazing sights and fresh air, but be prepared for chilly night. Jemez Falls is the largest waterfall among the Jemez mountains and it is close to the camp site. The Valles Caldera National Preserve, the hot springs at Jemez Springs and Bandelier National Forest are nearby attractions. La Cueva is the nearest town, and there you can find convenience stores for supplies and various local eateries and restaurants. You can also enjoy river and stream fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and picnicking at this park. Spots are filled on a first come first serve basis, and there are only a few amenities such as: picnic tables, Rv hookups, water and fire rings. 3 miles west from Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center is the Echo Amphitheater, a favorite among serial visitors to Abiquiu, New Mexico. Schools, clubs and vacationers take advantage of the covered picnic areas and Echo Amphitheater Trail. The last part of the trail has steep stairs leading up to the Echo Canyon, where the rocks are a natural habitat for snakes, so be sure to stay on the trail and off the rocks! There's also tons of hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, skiing and snowboarding to be done. There's rarely a dull moment at the Echo Amphitheater!
