Find RV Parks and Campgrounds near Lake Sumner, New Mexico

Located just 14 miles southeast of Roswell, New Mexico is the Bottomless Lake campground. Enjoy an almost insane number of outdoor activities, so get your water-proof sunscreen out and packed. You can look forward to tons of fishing spots, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, cruising and even scuba diving. With an abundance of aquatic plants in the lake, the water looks greenish-blue and it's beautiful! Visitors also enjoy hiking the various trails, biking, unique sinkholes to explore.  

The Lake Van Recreation is located in Dexter, New Mexico on Lake Van. This is an especially popular site, not just for excellent fishing and boating opportunities on the lake, but also for its proximity to several excellent attractions. Visitors can take advantage of day trips to the Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell. These two sites in particular are fun and exciting spots where campers can learn some interesting facts about New Mexico's geological landscape and history with the "unknown." The area is also great for immersing yourself in pristine terrain, so don't forget to carve out time to hike or bike through the various trails.

Look forward to the spectacular sand dunes at the Mescalero Sand North Dune Park. The dune field stretches over most of the area and lends itself well to terrain cycles, sand rails and dune buggies. The dunes, mostly made up of quartz particles, are constantly changing and move up to a foot a year. There's also some unusual natural features such as shallow water pools and mature cottonwood trees. Visitors can enjoy this vast and beautiful sand dune for all the disc-surfing they can handle, and then look forward to quiet, cool evenings looking up at a clear, beautiful sky. 

The Tucumcari KOA is located in the cozy, small town of Tucumcari and is perfect for your next quiet getaway into the southwest region. Here, campers can find great, local museums and the sites and stops of the historic Route 66. There's also excellent, small town dining options in Tucumcari, giving it a charm and homeliness that visitors appreciate. Also be sure to enjoy the excellent stargazing and dawn skies New Mexico is known for. 

The Oldhams Campground is located along the Canadian River; at 8,200 acres, this the longest lakes in the state and is home to a plethora of attractions. Visitors to Oldhams can look forward to excellent fishing; crappie, walleye, trout and catfirsh cna be caught here. You can also expect water sports such as water skiing, cruising, swimming and paddle boarding on the reservoir. If you enjoy wildlife viewing, there's tons to see including quail, ducks, pheasants, antelope and deer. Though temperatures can get toasty, there are wonderful breezes that flow across the lake and water's edge to alleviate the intense heat.  

At an over 6,100 foot elevation and nestled between two high sandstone bluffs is the Villanueva National Park. There's tons of excellent outdoor activities to enjoy, so get ready for great fishing, birding, wildlife viewing, wildflower viewing or mountain biking. Visitors especially love to hike the various trails, so get ready to explore the gorgeous forestry that climbs up the bluffs and runs through the canyon. There's also equestrian trails as well as a number of picnic tables, so whether you want to go galloping through the wilderness or hang out with friends over great food, there's plenty of space and picnic tables to make that happen!  

Just north of Portales New Mexico is the regional beauty of the Oasis State Park. It is set among cottonwood trees, shifting sand dunes and a small fishing lake. Although fishing is the park's main attraction, also look forward to excellent hiking trails, mountain biking trails, picnic areas, and a peaceful shady campground and an abundance of birds.  

The Aker's RV Park is located in Clovis, New Mexico, an area famous for the Norman and Vi Petty Rock 'N Roll Museum. Just a few blocks from the park are several attractions such as two enormous dog parks, a zoo, playground and water pad. This area is half-industrial and half-residential, making it a perfect mix of friendly hospitality and an abundance of amenities that make staying in the area enjoyable and free of hassle.

Rogers Park and Campground is located at the Ute Lake State Park and is known for it's excellent environment for adventure and fun. Look forward to fishing for walleye, crappie, catfish and trout, as well as wildlife viewing. Keep your eyes open for deer, various species of birds, bears and elk. The area is also popular for its trails, so bring the right shoes and equipment to go hiking, biking and horseback riding. The area can get a little toasty, but breezes created from the lake sruface can help cool the land. Just northwest of Tucumcari is the Conchas Lake State Park. The Conchas Lake is one of New Mexico longest; explore 11 miles of the Conchas river or 14 miles of the South Canadian river. This is one of the area's most popular sites because of its secluded coves, sandy beaches and canyons, and abundance of outdoor activities available. You can boat, fish, hike, swim, camp and go bird watching which is a favorite among locals. There's also plenty of winter sports to enjoy once the snow falls!

The Zia Campground is located along the Ute Lake in Logan, New Mexico, and is a great spot for the camping, water sports and outdoor activities that Logan is known for. Look forward to a gorgeous lake filled with fish and perfect for water skiing, cruising, swimming and paddle boarding. Also expect some great opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding from along the trails that lead from the lake. The Mind Canyon Campground is located at Ute Lake, New Mexico and is perfect for your next waterside getaway. The campground is popular for climbers, and bouldering is common; when visitors aren't climbing, they're making their way through trails and biking along the slightly hilly plains.
