The Cochiti Lake Recreation Area is located in Pena Blanca, New Mexico near the Rio Grande and upstream from Albuquerque. This is a designated "quiet lake," so boat operators cannot get up to wake speeds, which make it a perfect environment for quiet water activities and a still lake surface. You can also go hiking and biking around the lake and enjoy some of the most pristine forestry to photograph. Since Albuquerque is so close by, visitors can look forward to local dining, shopping, exploration and the many activities and festivals that residents take advantage of daily. The Wild Rivers National Recreation Area is located within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and along the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River. That being said, expect some of the most untouched, breathtaking views of nature this side of the United States. Experience the beauty of an 800-foot deep canyon, volcanic flowers and naturally rugged vistas. The diverse terrain ensures the perfect environment for a flourishing flora and fauna ecosystem. While you hike the trails, look out for gorgeous birds and small animals, as well as beautiful blooming flowers and plants. Besides hiking, you can also go boating, fishing, biking, picnicking and scenic driving.

Enjoy spectacular sights at the Wild River's Campground including deep, steep-sided canyons carved out by the Rio Grande River and the Red River through beautiful, volcanic rock. Eagle Nest Lake State Park is located in Eagle Nest on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway. Expect a stunning landscape with the incredibly high mountains of the Moreno Valley. The lake is regularly stocked with trout and salmon, and visitors can look forward to ice fishing in the winter. At an 8,300 foot elevation, the campground enjoys mild weather conditions and fresh breezes.
