Located on Heron Lake, The Island View Campground is a gorgeous site, surrounded by tall pines and fresh lakeside breezes. Nestled among juniper and pinion trees in the Gila National Forest, the Pinion Campground is a great place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy a quiet getaway. A few sites even have a view of the Quemado Lake which is gorgeous at sunrise. Keep your eyes open for elk as your explore the forest and feel free to make your own trail as you hike and bike. The Pinion Access Trail is a popular trail to hike, and know that the biking trails are open and intermediate in difficulty. Also be sure to look up at dawn to see the spectacular New Mexico sky as it explodes daily with red and oranges. 

The Fawn Lakes Campground is located in the Carson National Forest and and is one of the few camping spots along the scenic length of the Red River. Soak in the amazing sights and smells of ponderosa pines that blankets the areas surrounding the water, and explore the park via the beautiful but challenging hiking trails. Visitors can also enjoy fishing and swimming at the pools near the campground, and it is bear country so keep your eyes open for black bears as you enjoy the natural terrain. The City of Red River is close by, so head over there for general sight seeing and to stock up on food, souvenirs and supplies.

The Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Park is a favorite among locals and visitors alike for many reasons. Of course number one is the presence of hot, mineral springs but the area is also a gorgeous array of large rock formations, deserts vistas and peaks. Go hiking and exploring on your own, or explore one of the intricate trails. The resort also has plenty of activites such as yoga classes, workshops and retreats.
