The Prescott National Forest is made up of about 1.25 million acres and borders three other National Forests in Arizona: Kaibab, Coconino and Tonto. As a result, campers can look forward to plenty of space for exploring and breathtaking views for scenic viewing and photography. Half of the Forest lies east of Prescott and takes in the Black Hills, Mingus Mountain, Black Mesa and the headwaters of the Verde River and enjoys a Sonoran Desert landscape and warm atmosphere. The Alamo Lake State Park is located in the town of Wenden and is a great spot for a fun outdoor adventure. Campers can look forward to a breathtaking natural setting over the water and great sunsets and opportunities to stargaze. Plus, there's tons to do at this  campground. OHV driving is popular as is fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, red-eared  sun fish, channel catfish and several species of trout. Travelers can also expect excellent boating, paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and swimming. Around the park, there's space for hiking and biking, so when you come, don't forget your gear!
