The Prescott National Forest is made up of about 1.25 million acres and borders three other National Forests in Arizona: Kaibab, Coconino and Tonto. Half of the Forest lies east of Prescott and takes in the Black Hills, Mingus Mountain, Black Mesa and the headwaters of the Verde River and enjoys a Sonoran Desert landscape and warm atmosphere. The Gilbert Ray Campground is located in the beautiful city of Tucson, Arizona and is a great place for a fun, yet relaxing southwestern vacation. Campers can look forward to a number of excellent local attractions such as the Arizona/Sonoran Desert Museum, Pima Air and Space Museum, San Xavier del Bac, Arizona History Museum and the Museum of Art. For the nature enthusiast, there a number of great spots including the Reid park Zoo, Saguaro National Park, Tohono Chul Park, the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun Historic District, Tucson Botanical Gardens and Sentinel Peak. Guests can also head down to the city area for excellent eateries, or visit iconic Arizona sites like the Painted Rock Petroglyph Site, Desert Botanical Gardens, Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium and the El Dorado Hot Springs. Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area is a campground located on 1500 N Fool Hollow Lake in Show Low, AZ. The site includes laundry facilities. The campground is open all year.

The park opened in November 2019 and it has 24 spaces in a U-shaped driveway – its amenities include oversize spaces (but not for big-rigs), 50 and 30 amp hookups at each space, a sewage hookup at each space, a water hookup at each space, pet friendly, a recreational walk, dog run, picnic area, and exceptional views.
