The Chilatchee Creek Campground is located on its namesake at scenic Dannelly Reservoir in Alabama's Black Prairie Belt. The reservoir sits on the Alabama River and covers roughly 27 square miles, boasting more than 500 miles of shoreline. The park offers excellent fishing for bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish, and numerous fishing tournaments and annual festivals are held in the immediate area.   Amenities & Activities The campground features amenities such as: an accessible playground, drinking water, dump station, electrical hook-ups, fish cleaning stations, laundry facilities, parking area, picnic shelters, ranger station, showers and plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing.   Attractions You can also look forward to the breathtaking natural terrain and its rolling grasslands, wildlife viewing opportunities, Dannelly reservoir and Alabama River.   Whitetail deer and wild turkeys roam the park, creating excellent bow-hunting opportunities. Hanceville is home to one of the nation’s most iconic shrines, Our Lady of the Angels Monastery. The construction began in 1996 and was completed in 1999, under the direction of Mother Angelica of the Eternal Word Television Network. Higgins Ferry Park is the place to be if you love to fish and immerse yourself in an untouched natural terrain. Higgins Ferry is a beautiful county park right in the heart of Alabama, and located just ten miles east of Clanton, which is part of the Coosa River and a premier fishing location for Bass, Crappie, and Catfish. Anglers hold an annual championship right on the docks, so visitors can look forward to that!   Higgins Ferry offers a public boat launch, a pavilion, swimming area, as well as RV and tent camping. The campground also offers 28 full hook-up sites. There’s also a full bathhouse with showers included, and for the kids, there’s a playground area, and a day use area where people can cook out and enjoy the beauty of Lake Mitchell. Take some "time away" and be the first to preview this brand new resort in Lincoln, Alabama. Time Away RV Resort will offer 200 sites, with 13-acres and a grand opening in early June 2021. The resort features large spacious sites with 30 and 50 amp full hookup service and concrete pads. On-site amenities include a private bbq area with a firepit and bathhouses.
