About El Paso

El Paso is the RVers hub for the western part of the far-west reaches of Texas. The Majority of El Paso RV parks run along either side of I-10, and are on either side of downtown. One of the most popular on the east side of El Paso is the Mission RV Park, and to the west is the Anthony KOA, which is right on the border with Texas, New Mexico, and Original Mexico.

One of the most popular areas for outdoor recreation in the El Paso area is Ascarate Park, located right on the border, near the eastern edge of town. The park is home to the Ascarate Pool, which welcomes the community and visitors with an Olympic size pool, as well as a more kids-friendly shallow pool with water features. Ascarate Park is also one of the few areas near downtown El Paso that has a lake for fishing. Ascarate Lake is one of the best spots around for shore casting. Further east of town, down I-10 a bit, is Hideaway Lake and Plainview Lakes, both known as quality fishing lakes near El Paso.

The natural gem of the El Paso area are the Franklin Mountains. Franklin Mountains State Park is only a short distance from the center of El Paso, and the Wyler Aerial Tramway will gently float visitors to the top of the mountains for 360-degree views of the surrounding area. The state park is nearly 25,000-acres of trails, wildlife, and camping, but never more than a few miles from civilization in El Paso.

For those affiliated with the military, El Paso has a Military RV park located within the metro area. Near the northern center of town is the Ft. Bliss RV Park, for active, former, and retired service members and their families.
