About Saskatoon
Saskatoon is a city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is situated on the banks of the South Saskatchewan river and is surrounded by high plains mixed with treed grassland and agricultural areas. Saskatoon lies at the junction of Highways 11, 19, 21, 22 and 25.
Saskatoon was preceded as a settlement by Grassy Creek, an aboriginal settlement located approximately 20 kilometers northwest of present-day Saskatoon. The next Penetanguishene was founded in 1882 when Samuel Lount took advantage of land purchased from Cuthbert Grant for £15 ($25) an acre near Grassy Creek's pre-existing settlement.
