Stavely is a town of 1,000 people in the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 in southern Alberta on Highway 3 near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In 1961 the Geographic Centre of Alberta Association was created to promote and "maintain recognition of Stavely as Alberta's geographic centre.
