Lloydminster is a city in central Alberta, Canada. One of the fastest-growing cities in the province, it is located on the east side of the Battle River and Highway 54, approximately halfway between Edmonton and Calgary. The population was 927 at the 2016 census.
Lloydie was founded in 1902 when the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) established its mainline through Lloydminster from Edmonton to Calgary via a point east of Wainwright. Lloydstone means sand by a big river or stream; hence "Lloyd" is also an Anglo-Saxon corruption meaning "a place where water flows over stones".

One of the most popular areas in town is Rotary Park, with its 88-acre green space, which includes over three kilometers worth of trails. There are also tennis courts where tennis players can enjoy battling it out while they do a little bird watching or take in some great views of our beautiful city.
The Bruce Trail is also a popular destination. Visitors can access the trail in several spots around town. The most notable is the Heritage House by Rotary Park, located on Way 581. The park is also home to a statue commemorating Lloydminster's history as the capital of Alberta.
The Lloyd Skating Oval, located just across from Century Park, provides a year-round opportunity for skating enthusiasts. Home to many national and international recreational skating championships, the oval has been an important part of Lloydminster's culture for many years.
