About Leduc

Leduc is a city in west central Alberta, Canada. It is located north of the City of Edmonton and west from the City of Red Deer. More specifically, Leduc is located on Highway 13 near the crossroads with Highways 49 and 645; however, it has never been an integral part of either highway's history.

The City of Leduc was incorporated in 1967, and is named after the town of Leduc, France. Leduc is currently Alberta's 19th largest city.

The first inhabitants of the area were aboriginal peoples including the Blood, Kutenai and Stoney tribes. The Hudson's Bay Company had a trading post at Fort Augustus from 1802 to 1821 that was used as a minor supply depot on the York Factory Express trade route to Fort George (Winnipeg). The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway built their line through this area in 1911 and called it "Inglewood", which was later renamed "Leduc" after an early settler named Louis Leduc.

There are a few restaurants and fast food places, but mostly just the real country type. I had the great pleasure of doing some hunting in this area with a local outfitter, and we ate at a family run diner called the Dizzle Diner. It was a real experience for me because I never saw anyone hunting for breakfast.

The people in Leduc are extremely friendly, and really make you feel like you're at home. All around this is a great small town to settle down in and start your family, or just to enjoy some freedom while starting your life.

Leduc is a city in central Alberta, Canada, about 40 kilometers south of Edmonton.

The city is served by the Leduc-Beaumont Airport with air service to Calgary. Highway 13 connects Leduc to Edmonton. Highway 21 provides access to Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan while Highway 14 takes you north towards Lac La Biche, Slave Lake and Peace River.

Leduc Transit operates six days per week on two routes in the city providing service to residential areas from Monday through Friday from 6 am until 6 pm with extended hours on some routes for school children.
