A smaller RV trailer park is the Wood Buffalo RV Park. This also offers full hook-ups but is much more modest with only two available spaces. Amenities are also more limited at this campground as there are no showers or swimming access. However, there are picnic tables and fire pits for tent camping on-site and a playground for kids*.  *indicates seasonal access.

Elk Point, Alberta is located on Highway 55 and is a 45-minute drive south of Cold Lake. Elk Point has a 2,000-foot airstrip, but can be difficult to land in due to its small size. The closest major airport is in Edmonton with the Calgary airport being farther away. A commuter taxi service picks up passengers from their residences to take them to the airport or bus stop for Cold Lake at regular times during any given day. The bus stop for Elk Point is also located in McPherson Park downtown and will take you on a 10-hour trip to either Edmonton or Calgary for under $50 per person.
