It would be nice to get 30 amp service on Lot 10 because power is now shared with the new lot that was the old swing set area. Se had to reset power several times. Otherwise, we had a great trip and will be back for a month new year! It was nice to see some improvements, Keep them coming! In the Office, Robyn is always very helpful and it's great to see Sheila back!

Had such a great time at Holloween weekend! The kids loved everything the trick-or-treating, to the hayrides, the DJ dance parties, and the crafts. The camper my daughter stayed in was cozy and we slept great! Thank you Winding River Campground for a memorable weekend!

Camp ground is being run terribly. Paid for a full hook up. Got put by highway with NO hook up. Paid deposit and was told I get full refund on deposit if cancelled before 30 days (which I did). Got to campground and was told I couldn’t get deposit back, they would give me credit for another stay. What a MESS. Paid for much more than this campground is worth.

this was the worst campground i ever stayed in. the grounds were dirty the spaces were small and crowed with the hookups there was no way to get around running all cords and hoses right thru the sites next door. it was a mess. no one to help you. the office help was not helpful actually snotty. not a good experience. will not go back or recommend to anyone.

The place has very old facilities. The new owners seem to be fixing it up. Our camper was nice, but the refrigerator stopped working and the water leaked under the camper causing our sire to get wet. They tried to fix, but couldn't while we were in it. Otherwise the people were very nice and the property is beautiful with great river access if you're a fisherman.

Campground Response

Hi Dennis - Thanks for your review and staying with us. We deployed our tech to try and fix it like you said. Since you left we have replaced the refrigerator and we plan to add rocks/mulch around the outside of the rental RV to help with moisture capture. Hope you see you again sometime.

I didn’t go I had a family emergency .

Pool was disgusting, sites are way too small for the size campers they say will fit. Seasonal members act like it’s their private playground. My son almost got hit by a side by side racing up a hill. Sites are very unlevel and turn to mud with rain. Owners do nothing about the excessive amount of seasonal campers smoking pot, couldn’t get my children away from the smell anywhere inside the campground. Quiet time rules are not followed or enforced. Timberline campground just down the road is much more family friendly.

Bathrooms were very clean. Kayaked the Betsie River through the campground which was an awesome float. Pool was kept nice and warm. Saturday night Music Bingo was a hit with the family! Great place to camp.

The location is spot on! You can’t beat staying right next to the river. The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. My family of four (two young kids) will definitely be coming back!

Big flood light off the cabins kind of ruined sites 2 and 3 for us. Also very close to the highway. Price is high for what you get.

Campground had a nice outdoor pool that was well maintained. Lots are very small and not for a large camper. Overall nice campground not a lot to do for kids, definitely more for people coming to fish or seasonal campers.

We had a great time. Having the river right on your lot was pretty amazing and unlike any campground we have been to.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. We forgot a paddle for our kayak and they loaned us one. The spots are a little snug, but we were on a corner spot by the river which was lovely. We loved the peace and quiet and were happy to get a 2.5 hr kayak on the river in.

The best thing this place has is the location. I paid close to $70 per night with taxes and fees. There is not hard surfaces and the sites are not level. The front tires on my motorhome were off the ground in order to get level. It looked like they had just had a stump removed just before arrival. The site was covered in shredded wood and leaves. The site next to me was also covered in leaves. You better bring extra hoses and cords. Even though it is full hookup, they were not placed in convenient locations. Our water was shut off twice during our stay so that they could add splitters to accommodate more people.

Campground Response

Hi Mitchell - Sorry to hear about your less than ideal experience. We have a wide variety of sites to choose from and would welcome you to come stay on our beautiful river sites which allow you to step out of your camper and put your feet in the Betsie River. July 4th weekend is a super busy weekend and although we strive to have all of our camper leave with happy experiences sometimes we miss the mark. Hope you give us another chance sometime outside of our busy holiday weeks.
