Spruces Campground
Overview
With plenty of shade, and located near Salt Lake City, Spruces Campground is a familiar and popular site for serial visitors to Salt Lake City. About mid-way up Big Cottonwood Canyon, this campground is great for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and fishing nearby. At an elevation of over 7,500 feet, visitors love that there is relief from the harsh daytime heat of other campgrounds, and is surrounded by beautiful firs and spruce trees.
Only a few spots can accommodate big rigs, but the other amenities are convenient and well-managed bu the Spruces staff. Expect water, fire pits and grills, picnic tables and limited hookup RV sites. Super popular on weekends, be sure to plan your trip to include a few weekdays so you can really enjoy the quiet of the mountains, and explore the many canyons and trails.
