Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground

We arrived on Labor day and found the campground of 12 sites almost empty. Dauphin Island was fairly empty as well which was wonderful. A small but clean and neat. There are 12 sites with full hookups and the wifi and cable worked great. The two restrooms are handicap accessible and are very clean and spacious. Laundry was available. The new small pool was nice after a trip to the beach. The beach was across the street and is the state beach access which charges a small fee. The lot is gravel with concrete pads. There is no shade and when full, this campground will be very tight. There are sites at the rear where you can pull into the campground and into your site from a road behind the campground. We camped here in a 33ft camper and this ability to pull through was helpful. If the lot is full, navigating into the campsites may be difficult. If you travel with an extra vehicle, you will need to park along the back road since there may not be enough room for the extra vehicle. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We rented kayaks from the owner and he suggested a place where you can paddle out to a small island that was fun and we didn't have to fight the surf. If we return to Dauphin Island, we will return there again, especially if after Labor Day.
