MoonStream Vintage Campground offers a unique camping / glamping experience at the base of the mountains in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado. Come stay just minutes away from all of the hiking, biking, rafting, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling that the Collegiate Peaks and the San Isabel National Forest have to offer. We have boutique RV sites and in-place Airstream staycations available nightly, weekly, or monthly. All of our sites have full hook-ups, with their own fire rings, picnic tables, and incredible views - yet we offer something different from the typical RV Park: spacious sites set back from your neighbors, free wifi to all sites, quiet creekside pathways and picnic areas for your enjoyment, and two large communal fire pits for all of your ‘mallow-roasting and campfire singalong needs. We pride ourselves on creating a camping experience like that from days gone by - emphasizing community, comfort, and outdoor enjoyment above all. While we don’t offer such amenities as cable TV or laundry, we hope you’ll appreciate the unique magic of MoonStream's vintage camp experience!

Area Tips

MoonStream Vintage Campground is located at the base of Cottonwood Pass just 5 minutes west of Buena Vista, CO.

The Arkansas River, just minutes to the east, offers some of the best whitewater in the country. Check out our friends at The Adventure Company (theadventurecompany.com) for all your river adventures.

With the 4-mile Recreation Area just east of the Arkansas River and numerous other mountain-top routes to the west, we are a mountain biker's and off-roader's paradise. And in the winter time, Cottonwood Pass closes to automobiles and opens up to snowmobiles.

To wind down, Cottonwood Hot Springs is just 5 minutes to the west, and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort is 15 minutes to the south. Cottonwood Lake (no motors allowed), 15 minutes up the pass, has great fishing – though we’ve caught brown trout in the creek right here on the property.

Numerous hiking trails - including the Continental Divide Trail and the Colorado Trail - can be accessed just minutes away up Cottonwood Pass, and there are trailheads for thirteen Fourteeners within a 45-minute drive (Mt. Princeton's 14,197' summit is under 4 hours from your campsite...if you hustle). In the winter, there are endless opportunities for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. If you're into backcountry skiing or splitboarding, or want to try it out for the first time, get in touch with Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (bvmountainadventures.com).

Upon your return to civilization, check out the bars, restaurants, and shops on Main Street or South Main in Buena Vista, or catch a showing at the Comanche Drive-In Theater just a few hundred yards up the road.

We think the best food in the valley is 50 Burger down in Salida, but if you’re looking to stay a little closer, we think Buena Vista’s best meal can be found at Wesley & Rose at the Surf Hotel. And for a night out, the Deerhammer Distillery on Main Street and Eddyline Brewery across from the library are super cool spots.

This site is only big enough for truck campers, vans, or small motorhomes. The space is literally 25' long by 8' wide. There is a picnic table and fire ring, and also a 1977 Airstream Excella that we are in the process of renovating. Until the Airstream is complete, we figured we'd open up the parking spot to small rigs looking for hookups in the valley.

Awesome stay! Patrick the host was super attentive and sent out a personalized text before check-in with all the info including wifi password, bathroom location, rules, check-out time, and everything else we might need to know, so we didn't have to ask. Great spot, great views, super cute clean bathroom, and we enjoyed walking the funky creek area

Patric is welcoming and goes above and beyond ( like loaning a hose or helping us with our black tank!!). It’s a great location for a base camp in the area. Bike or take a short drive to town- close to trails, hot springs, and 14ers.

Park worked fine for my needs. No-one onsite for things that may come up. Did try calling before leaving yesterday to let them know that my site, #3, did have a problem with the dumping pipe. (Did not receive a call or text back.) Someone had got their sewer hose end stuck inside of it, which made it impossible for me to put mine in to empty. Pulled into a vacant site to empty before leaving. Did not see a bathhouse on site, so not sure if they have built that yet. Tiny homes look to be possibly full-time occupied? I would stay there again though.

Absolutely gorgeous area, loved the mountain views and solitude. Overall a great experience. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars was the showers not working ( it was disclosed ahead), and we did have full hookups so that was fine. The walking trails and sitting area down by river was overgrown with weeds making it not as enjoyable. But I would stay there again as everything else was great! Host was friendly. Buena Vista is a really neat town!!

This was our second stay at Moonstream Vintage Campground. We park our own trailer in a full hook up spot. Spots are clean and spacious with a table and fire pit plus chairs in others. Patrick has been nothing but friendly, helpful, and responsive during each of our stays. The creek that runs through property is awesome for our dog plus 4 and 5 year old to play in. We frequent Buena Vista and usually camp off grid but sometimes it’s nice to have hookups and we like this place, although it’s off highway it’s still quiet and the views are amazing. Firewood on site is a plus in a pinch. My parents stayed in airbnb cottage and could walk right over to campground and thought the airbnb was a super cute mountain getaway with a view overlooking creek. Thanks Moonstream!

Clean sites, easy reservation system, and very friendly host. I called and spoke with the host before coming as well as during our visit and was greeted with friendly service both times.

Very quiet place, I stayed in #3, it is a pull through, but a little narrow and on a slight incline. I had to lift the front wheels 5" off the ground to level my bus. I liked the close proximity to town, I could ride my bike there very easily. Great place to stay and will be returning. Enjoyed it very much and the owner comes and greets you and is easily accessible.

Very quaint little park. It's obvious the owners care and are still improving the park. Great little trail down to the river.

Convenient spot for RVs to spend a night, refill tanks and do waste dump. Only downside is traffic on nearby roads, especially if you are the section of the loop nearing the road.

Owner was very nice. Property well-maintained, easy to find, good for kids. The trail to the stream is nice and there's a wooden swing to watch the creek. Plenty of firewood available for sale if you need it, EXCELLENT bathrooms especially when compared to a porta potty or dispersed campsites. Best of both worlds and spectacular views of the mountains, drive in movie theater across the street, close to hot springs and downtown BV.

Really great location, nice grounds, blue belle was very clean, plumbed for sewer and water so no problem using the toilet, hot shower, and sinks. Heat and stove were nice as well! Thank you!

We had another fabulous weekend... Moonstream vintage campground is our favorite place to stay when we come to Buena Vista. The location, the comfort of the airstream trailers is absolutely phenomenal! Would love to come back every weekend! We will see you again...

Cute little place, the owner came over to greet us when we arrived. I was very surprised to see all the tiny homes (8) on their property. From what I could tell there were only 3, maybe 4 spaces for RV's.
