The owners were so nice to save a spot for us. We were stuck in a snow storm in Colorado for 3 days. Very nice couple. Clean restroom and laundry.

Campground Response

I am always so pleased to hear our camp hosts are friendly and accommodating and I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay, Penny! Safe travels!

I know they have a new owner with great additions coming in the future. Jenna was a great host. The laundry could definitely use some new machines as there are many full-timers here who use those services. Otherwise we are very glad we were able to stay here while visiting the Oakley, Kansas area.

Campground Response

Thank you for your review Cindy. The four BRAND NEW machines typically provide ample machine opportunity to do laundry. You must have caught it at one of those odd times when they were all in use which is not typical. Safe travels!

Staff was extremely nice.

Campground Response

I'm happy to hear that, Margaret! Thank you for staying with us. We hope you visit again soon. There's a lot to see in the mid-west. Safe travels!

Light for men's bathroom entry door has been out for at least two weeks. Not ideal when you need a code to enter the bathroom. No paper towels. Half soap dispensers and faucets don't work. These are such simple things it seems like you just don't care. Have some pride. Probably should be 2 stars.

Campground Response

Hello Richard. My manager wants to apologize for the paper towels and dead light bulb as she did in the email reply she sent you yesterday from your email. She cleans the bathrooms 2-3 times a week and checks them daily but she said the paper towels slipped her mind. They have been filled and the special light bulbs have been ordered. But she checked the soap dispensers and all of them work and all of the sinks work except one out of seven in the men's. We do have pride and we do care. It seems simple enough to us to simply tell us at that time so we can fix it then. Anyway, we apologize for the paper towels and the light bulb has been ordered. Safe travels.

We stayed here a few years ago and since looks like new owners, they are trying their best to improve (it shows) the place. Very good spot for a easy overnight stop right off I-70, we will defiantly plan to visit again in our travels.

Campground Response

Thank you for noticing our improvements, Rennie. We are really trying to fix things up. It just takes time when the property is family owned and not a big corp like so many parks are now days. Money comes into play so we have to take it slow and budget. But we'll get there! We look forward to your next visit. Safe travels!

Robert Fleming

Easy access, spacious sites and well layed out.

Campground Response

Glad you enjoyed the stay, Robert. Enjoy your travels!

Older established RV park, fairly newly resumed ownership and making upgrades gradually Very exuberant young staff and willing to win customer confidence. Highway noise at night

Campground Response

I'm so happy to hear you had a nice time at our park and that our staff was energetic and fun! We look forward to your next visit, Jon. Safe travels!

We enjoyed our stay at high plains campground easy access to to showers and rest rooms and a cafe the only negative we had I wish we had more shade for our van on the hot summer day this was my error not the campground would stay again but I would choose a different site

Campground Response

Glad you enjoyed your stay, Mark. Come see us again and we'll see if a different site suits you better. Safe travels!

Noel Betow

We only stayed one night, but everything was good. Staff was nice and welcoming.

Campground Response

Glad to hear this, Noel. We look forward to your next visit maybe longer next time so you can enjoy more of the area and a Pizza Cafe! Safe travels!

We were with our two small dogs and we only stayed for one night on our way to CO. Fortunately it was only one night. There grass around the campground was nothing but stick tights so the dogs were covered, and the trailer was full of them. Water pressure was non existent. Changed sights, no better. Should have driven a little farther to Colby, KS.

Campground Response

I'm sorry you had water pressure issues, but I'm pretty sure it's from your rig or equipment, Chuck. I'll bet you were using a water pressure reducer/regulator. You will get exactly what you experienced if you use those in our park as our system is designed to only deliver water from 20-40 psi.

Patty Smith

Ok for 1 night stay

Campground Response

Sorry you feel that way, Patty. I disagree as there are many things to see in the area, calming relaxed atmosphere with beautiful sunsets, playful bunnies to watch and don't forget our amazing pizza recipes at our Grub n Chug Cafe in the main building. Safe travels.

It was a nice place to spend a night. We arrived around 6 pm and the office and the restaurant were closed, but we easily found our reservation and site number. We didn’t use the bathrooms or the laundry. I know that the new owners are trying to get rid of the burs in the grass, but they are still there and really painful! So if you have a dog, really keep them out of the grass! The Mexican restaurant at the end of the driveway is really good!

Campground Response

So glad to hear you were able to navigate our simple after-hours check-in and reservation process. Sorry about the burrs, but it could also just be the dry grass as our spray vendor said he didn't see any new plants but I'll see if he can come by and take another look. Thank you and have a pleasant trip!

This is our 3rd visit to High Plains - 2nd time this year, 1st two years ago. This is a no-frills campground that fit our needs while journeying across Kansas. The owners are slowly making improvements to the grounds. We stayed in site 308 this year, didn't use the sewer hookup, but noticed it ran uphill as most of the sites in the 300 section did. We would stay here again on our motorhome travels across Kansas.

Campground Response

Thank you, Larry! I'm glad you continue to visit our lovely park. Maybe next time you could stay two or three nights and visit all the neat sites in the area and our pizza cafe! We feel our pizza recipes alone are a great "frill" not to mention the beautiful sunsets and bunnies playing! Safe travels!

Campground Response

Everything worked except cable hookup, bathroom was clean but worn out; they are in the process of repair& upgrade. Campsite was level which is good for not unhooking from vehicle, adequate for a quick stopover. If the new owners can achieve their goals of reviving the campground (mini-golf course, etc) then it would be a good option while traveling along I-70. Staff was friendly.

Campground Response

I'm sorry our accommodations didn't meet your needs, Sam. We do not have cable. Have not had cable for years and I don't know of statement on any platform that says we do. If you found one, that would be helpful information so I can attempt to correct it. We are doing our best to improve the park but even still feel like it is well worth more than just a "quick stopover" with all the sites to see in the area and our pizza cafe! Safe travels!

Joy Corson

Loved the width n length of the site. Staff was very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our time there.

Campground Response

So glad to hear you had a happy stay, Joy! Yes, the sites are quite wide and long. They can be used as "buddy" sites but we don't unless it's really needed or requested. Enjoy your travels!

Laurie Steele

So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, Laurie! We look forward to your next visit! Safe travels!!

Good for a night irv2 passing through. PT FH, gravel site, level, grass spacious, clean.

Campground Response

Thank Larry! But I would argue not just a "passing through". Did you know all the interesting things to see in the area??? We have a fossil museum 5 miles away in Oakley that houses the oldest specimen!! There's also the Buffalo Bill museum. Additionally, you can find Monument Rocks and Little Jerusalem about 30 mins away. You'll be surprised how big these two very interesting rock formations are and you can walk/hike around them. So there's lots to see...Come and Stay a few nights!!!!

I've stopped here several times over the past few years. It's always clean, sites are a good size, it has a dog run and restaurant within walking distance. Exactly what I need after a long day of driving.

Campground Response

We're so happy to hear you enjoy our campground, Sharon. Don't forget...we make awesome pizza too!!! You can get a traditional pie or try one of our interesting recipes! We have beer too to assist with the wind down of a "long day of driving".

Campground Response

Clean bathroom and showers. Level sites. Friendly staff and a great Mexican restaurant next door. Bathrooms could use some updating and lights on all night at campground and some road noise made sleeping a challenge.

Campground Response

Sorry the hwy noise bothered you, Nancy. It bothers some and not others. BTW, we make fantastic pizza in the main building!!! Some guests have commented "The best pizza they've ever had!"

Hoby

Campground Response

We're happy you enjoyed your stay, Hoby. We also have a great pizza cafe in the main building!!!

Rover pass is awful. I needed to cancel my reservation. After numerous attempts, I still got charged. I will not use a campground that requires Roverpass again.

Campground Response

Hello Dale. There is a big red rectangle that reads "Cancel Reservation" on your emailed reservation confirmation. Not sure how you weren't able to click it when others have. Also, you made your reservation in November of 2023 for August 2024. First, at that time the cancellation policy was "no refunds" during peak season which was stated before purchasing and on that same confirmation. Second, if you had called the office we could have pointed you to the big red rectangle in the middle of the page OR (and more importantly!!!) we could have simply moved your reservation to next year. Third, maybe don't make reservations so far out if plans aren't set. Safe travels!
