Cotile (pronounced "Ko teal") Lake is a public lake just under 1800 acres. A Louisiana fishing license is required to fish. Out of state veterans should use their VA id number to get a discounted out of state fishing liscense. Popular species caught in Cotile Lake are bass, crappie/sac-a--lait/white perch, catfish, or brim.
Central Louisiana has numerous fishing lakes, the Red River, and Kisatchie National Forest which offers various types of outdoor recreation. The Alexandria Zoo has many of Louisiana's native species. Local historical sites include Kent House Plantation, Fort Randolph and Fort Buhlow State Historic Sites, Southern Forest Heritage Museum, and Arna Bontemps African American Heritage Museum. Natchitoches, LA is 45min. away and is the oldest settlement in the Lousiana Purchase. Visit Fort St. John Baptiste for the history of the oldest settlement and area.
