The Crystal Forest Gift Shop Campground is located in the beautiful city of Holbrook, Arizona and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing outdoor adventure. Campers can look forward to the breathtaking sites of the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert National Park, both with intricate and challenging trails for visitors to hike, bike and explore. Canyon de Chelly, the Meteor Crater and the Harvey House in Winslow are also relatively close by and certainly worth a visit. With sight-seeing, campers can expect cool temperatures and plenty of excellent local eats to satisfy hungry travelers after a long day of exploring. Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Gift shop is definitely a great stop after dinner in downtown Holbrook. There, campers can buy excellent locally made wood arts and crafts.

Amenities at the Crystal Forest Campground include: electrical hookups for RVs, pet area, restrooms, tent camping, big rig access and pull thrus. Hope to see you soon!

The price is right: FREE. They have restrooms in the gift shop, but not in the campground, so if you’re rig is not “self-contained” they will ask you to move on. The hostess, Clover, was as friendly and helpful as possible, but understandably insistent upon being self-contained after she has had to “clean up” after very inconsiderate campers. She gets NOTHING from you staying there, but has to clean up any mess you leave behind. Treat her with respect and kindness and you shall receive the same.

I arrived just a little after 8pm. The gift shop and all was closed, so I proceeded to find a spot to park. As I was walking my dog a woman comes ouof her trailer and asked me if I was in the car. It was obvious she was intoxicated. When I responded that I was, she proceeded to tell me, in "drunk yelling" voice tone, that I needed a restroom. When I didn't understand she got even louder and overenunciated explaining I needed to have my own restroom, as in an RV. Proceeding to speak to me like I'm stupid, told me to look around, they have no restrooms. Mind you, it's dark, I had just arrived and had not oriented at all. The web site states they have restrooms, tent sites, etc. I said, "Okay." She continued drunk yelling while telling me "across the street is affiliated and is the same as they are and Holbrook is 18 miles away. Have a nice night." I honestly just kept answering "Okay" while she ranted, because at this point I was quite annoyed. I proceeded to my car and left. P.S. that guy in the van must have one of those portable potties.

Happened to stop at the Crystal Forest Museum on 12/16 on our way to the Petrified Forest. Met Clovis and her partner. Couldn't meet any nicer people than them. They were very friendly and provided a good background of the area. Bought some very nice pieces of petrified wood which we thought were reasonably priced.

This is a very inexpensive campground; we couldn’t believe the cost for everything! The staff was friendly and accommodating. The facilities were immaculate and they had enough amenities that not only covered the basics but with a little on top. They had a ton of activities to choose from no matter what you are into! I know my family has very different views. The sites were not only spacious but they were leveled and very easy to get my big rig into. Overall this campground gave us way more than the cost and that is how it should be! This is a great place to start a tradition! - Review provided by RV Park Recommendations & Reviews Facebook Group
