Charles Mears Campground

One of the "beach" parks, located right on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Consequently, the sites are asphalt, so it is a bit difficult to pitch a tent here. Wheeled campers are the best for this location. However, there are some sites that are quite small, suitable only for a tent, so make sure you reserve a campsite for your sized rig. There are a couple of big rig drive through sites available, but for the most part, you will have to be skilled at backing in. We stayed there with a 30ft Class C with no issues. The campground is also within walking distance of the town of Pentwater, where you can do all sorts of shopping, eat at a restaurant, etc. The Western Lake Michigan shoreline where Mears is located is one of the few areas in the interior of the country that you can watch dramatic sunsets.
