Rules are a necessary but unfortunate reality. We love spending time visiting with our guests and our least favorite thing on our to do list is enforcing rules. So we would be more than appreciative if you would familiarize yourself with the rules which are common sense, and basic etiquette. We hope that each one of our guest will be pleased with their stay and that each one would treat each other with respect and courtesy. Simple :) Thank You for choosing Big Creek RV Park for your family friendly nature retreat.

Chad Wiethuckter
Campground Response
Hi Chad, this is one way of describing what happened. Firstly, let me say this, here at Big Creek RV Park we take the safety and well-being of our guests very seriously this means that 5 MPH is the speed limit, being courteous is not limited to quiet hour and using inappropriate and vulgar language toward a 16-year-old girl on a hayride is NOT & WILL NEVER be tolerated here at Big Creek RV Park. Let me clarify one of your petty comments (oops this may not be professional, oh well....) the one that reads " The owner sat across the road at another site and watched us for about another hour after the sheriff left." We sit with our camp hosts on their site every weekend and we stay up until we deem necessary to assure that all is well in our campground. Your friend did not make "a remark" he said several inappropriate things over several minutes making the 16 years old girl very uncomfortable. In this scenario we have a 16-year-old girl, a 19-year-old brother and a 60 + year old man. Which of these 3 should have most common sense. We also have friends who take side with a 60 + years old man without pausing to think how the girl may have felt. I wonder if that girl would have been your daughter if this situation would have been acceptable and if you would have simply made excuses for the man. I will say this that after one week your friend called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. We take the safety and well-being of our guests, especially families, very seriously at Big Creek RV Park and strive to maintain a family-friendly environment. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here. Clearly this park is not the park for you, we hope you find another campground for your future camping adventures.
T M
Campground Response
Hi T, wonder what T stands for. Nevertheless, we thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is interesting to me how certain people can sit on, stew about and spit out their distorted retelling of a situation that happened several months ago. Words can't just be taken out of context. Nothing more to comment on this review.
Raymond Clover
Campground Response
Hi Raymond, I would agree with you that it is sad to lose long standing customers. In your review on google you wrote "After this weekend 10/18/2024 to 10/20/2024. I will not stay here again. No need to go into details or bash anyone. It's just a shame after coming here for years.". You must have changed your mind about bashing us, because your review on Rover Pass is quite different. All I will say is that here at Big Creek RV Park we want our guests to enjoy a safe, family friendly experience. Speed limit is non-negotiable: 5 MPH is the speed limit; being neighborly and courteous is not limited to quiet hour; using inappropriate language in front of minors on a hayride will NOT be tolerated... You were not on the hayride with your friend who used highly inappropriate verbiage toward a16 years old girl. We also did not solicit other's campers' involvement in handling this situation. Many heard what had been said on the hayride and were choked. I wonder if the girl in question would have been your sister or your daughter if you would have tolerated a man saying disrespectful and dirty comments to her. Would you have been ok with it? Would you have said to the man:" It is ok bro, you had a little too much to drink, you did not mean what you said". The situation was handled actually with grace. I will say this that after one week the party involved called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. We take the safety and well-being of our guests, especially families, very seriously at Big Creek RV Park and strive to maintain a family-friendly environment. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here.

James Taylor
Campground Response
Hi James, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Indeed, Big Creek RV Park is situated in a more rural area but offers so much to do with State Parks, Nature trails, quaint littles town such as Caledonia, historical places such as the Abbey which also has great food just 20 minutes from our campground. A drive to Fredericktown would give you just a sample of beautiful scenery in this area and Fredericktown has several good eating just 40 minutes away. On your way there you may want to visit Midstream Garden and Silver Mines. Floating down the Black River is something that a lot of people enjoy doing in the summer months. These are just a few ideas of the things to do around here. You may prefer just walking on our wooded trail, around our large field or wading/swimming in the creek and relaxing around the campfire. There is something for everyone to find enjoyment here at Big Creek RV Park. Thank you for camping with us, Dave & Laura -owners.

Campground Response
Hello Jennifer, we are happy that you found us and love to hear that you and your family have enjoyed your visits here at Big Creek RV Park. We work hard to assure that our guests have the best experience possible and want families to create great memories in a safe, clean and beautiful park. We hope to see you again, thank you for choosing us for your camping adventures, Dave & Laura-owners.
Joe Camper
Campground Response
Hi Joe, thank you for your feedback. I do not recall my husband being condescending toward you, but I do remember the situation that led to you and 2 other members of your group to leave us a bad review as well as decide not to come back. I do recall your group defending the inappropriate words of your 60 + year old friend and disregarding the impact of them on the recipient (a 16-year-old girl). We strive to maintain a family-friendly environment, and we have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here. I will say this that after one week, your friend called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. Maybe the "condescending" tone of the owner was in fact a concerned tone of an owner who must address an unsolicited disturbance from a guest to a staff.
Donna Schneider
Campground Response
Hi Donna, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review and are more than happy to accommodate our guests as able. We are glad that your family have enjoyed camping here at Big Creek RV Park under previous and new ownership and hope you will continue to enjoy camping here for many years to come. See you again soon, Dave & Laura -owners.
