Clean, well kept campground with level sites. The hookups are conveniently located so as not to need miles of extensions to reach. Camp store is well stocked with necessities and reasonably priced. There is propane service onsite to fill your tanks and a small little petting zoo. Nice little fishing pond and a walking trail.

I give them credit for keeping the place clean, but I will not be returning to this place. The owner’s both have problems. She does not have a radar gun and can not tell what your speed is coming in. The husband needs to take anger management. He went off on a friend there for a remark he made. His son exaggerated the comment and tried to pick a fight with our friend. Then he came over and told our group we all had to leave. When we told him we did not have to leave, he called the sheriff. The sheriff talk to him, then came to talk to us. The sheriff told us to watch him. He also told us to record any interactions with him, then he left. The owner sat across the road at another site and watched us for about another hour after the sheriff left. A manager with common sense would have told his employee to step away while he talked sensible and calm to our friend about the comment.

Campground Response

Hi Chad, this is one way of describing what happened. Firstly, let me say this, here at Big Creek RV Park we take the safety and well-being of our guests very seriously this means that 5 MPH is the speed limit, being courteous is not limited to quiet hour and using inappropriate and vulgar language toward a 16-year-old girl on a hayride is NOT & WILL NEVER be tolerated here at Big Creek RV Park. Let me clarify one of your petty comments (oops this may not be professional, oh well....) the one that reads " The owner sat across the road at another site and watched us for about another hour after the sheriff left." We sit with our camp hosts on their site every weekend and we stay up until we deem necessary to assure that all is well in our campground. Your friend did not make "a remark" he said several inappropriate things over several minutes making the 16 years old girl very uncomfortable. In this scenario we have a 16-year-old girl, a 19-year-old brother and a 60 + year old man. Which of these 3 should have most common sense. We also have friends who take side with a 60 + years old man without pausing to think how the girl may have felt. I wonder if that girl would have been your daughter if this situation would have been acceptable and if you would have simply made excuses for the man. I will say this that after one week your friend called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. We take the safety and well-being of our guests, especially families, very seriously at Big Creek RV Park and strive to maintain a family-friendly environment. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here. Clearly this park is not the park for you, we hope you find another campground for your future camping adventures.

The owner is aggressive and rude! Due to the location of their sewer hookup we were unable to connect (we have a large camper with two bathrooms). When we asked if they had any other sites available they told us to buy more hoses from them and that "they didn't build the camp ground, they just bought it that way". When we attempted to go back to our site to rig something up to make it work, the owner came out and started yelling at us, told us he had his own problems to deal with (his personal camper was flooding), called our brand new camper a piece of s&%t, and told us to leave. I would not recommend this campground at all!

Campground Response

Hi T, wonder what T stands for. Nevertheless, we thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is interesting to me how certain people can sit on, stew about and spit out their distorted retelling of a situation that happened several months ago. Words can't just be taken out of context. Nothing more to comment on this review.

After this weekend 10/18/204 to 10/20/2024 With great sadness after years of going to big creek. I will not pull my rv down there again. Laura one of the owners is great the othe Dave is very unprofessional. As far as iam concerned he has no business running an rv park. If you have a problem with a guest you handle it like a professional. You do not allow your kids to be irritate with the guest under no circumstances, and you do not involve other campers with the situation.

Campground Response

Hi Raymond, I would agree with you that it is sad to lose long standing customers. In your review on google you wrote "After this weekend 10/18/2024 to 10/20/2024. I will not stay here again. No need to go into details or bash anyone. It's just a shame after coming here for years.". You must have changed your mind about bashing us, because your review on Rover Pass is quite different. All I will say is that here at Big Creek RV Park we want our guests to enjoy a safe, family friendly experience. Speed limit is non-negotiable: 5 MPH is the speed limit; being neighborly and courteous is not limited to quiet hour; using inappropriate language in front of minors on a hayride will NOT be tolerated... You were not on the hayride with your friend who used highly inappropriate verbiage toward a16 years old girl. We also did not solicit other's campers' involvement in handling this situation. Many heard what had been said on the hayride and were choked. I wonder if the girl in question would have been your sister or your daughter if you would have tolerated a man saying disrespectful and dirty comments to her. Would you have been ok with it? Would you have said to the man:" It is ok bro, you had a little too much to drink, you did not mean what you said". The situation was handled actually with grace. I will say this that after one week the party involved called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. We take the safety and well-being of our guests, especially families, very seriously at Big Creek RV Park and strive to maintain a family-friendly environment. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here.

We had another GREAT weekend at Big Creek (our second weekend in a row). Awesome owners and staff. Costumes, campsite decorations and hayrides are an added bonus. This weekend we went to Arcadia for their homecoming parade, which is always incredible and the BlueGrass Festival. Will be back again next year. Thank you!!

Campground Response

Hi Donna, your family did such a great job with site decorations and costumes. It is always fun to see what you will come up with. Your creativity is so fun, and ingenious. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being a part of our fall festivities. Looking forward to seeing what you will all do next year. Nice campground - trees around most sites. If you are looking for quiet - this is your place. Not many attractions in the area. Nature, hiking, canoeing would have to be your thing. The best restaurant is your camp…

Campground Response

Hi James, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Indeed, Big Creek RV Park is situated in a more rural area but offers so much to do with State Parks, Nature trails, quaint littles town such as Caledonia, historical places such as the Abbey which also has great food just 20 minutes from our campground. A drive to Fredericktown would give you just a sample of beautiful scenery in this area and Fredericktown has several good eating just 40 minutes away. On your way there you may want to visit Midstream Garden and Silver Mines. Floating down the Black River is something that a lot of people enjoy doing in the summer months. These are just a few ideas of the things to do around here. You may prefer just walking on our wooded trail, around our large field or wading/swimming in the creek and relaxing around the campfire. There is something for everyone to find enjoyment here at Big Creek RV Park. Thank you for camping with us, Dave & Laura -owners.

I found Big Creek RV Park earlier this summer and fell in love immediately. The property is so nice and clean. We've been twice and are in the process of planning another trip. Very family friendly and they think of everything and genuinely care about safety and including everyone in their activities.

Campground Response

Hello Jennifer, we are happy that you found us and love to hear that you and your family have enjoyed your visits here at Big Creek RV Park. We work hard to assure that our guests have the best experience possible and want families to create great memories in a safe, clean and beautiful park. We hope to see you again, thank you for choosing us for your camping adventures, Dave & Laura-owners.

Loved the campground. Been coming here for 5+ years however, the man that owns it needs to learn about customer service. He was very condescending to us and made us decide that that was the last time we would stay here. The wife is a sweetheart though.

Campground Response

Hi Joe, thank you for your feedback. I do not recall my husband being condescending toward you, but I do remember the situation that led to you and 2 other members of your group to leave us a bad review as well as decide not to come back. I do recall your group defending the inappropriate words of your 60 + year old friend and disregarding the impact of them on the recipient (a 16-year-old girl). We strive to maintain a family-friendly environment, and we have clear guidelines in place to ensure that all guests are safe here. I will say this that after one week, your friend called to apologize for what he had said. He in fact was very sorry and realized that words do matter, and he should not have said what he did. Maybe the "condescending" tone of the owner was in fact a concerned tone of an owner who must address an unsolicited disturbance from a guest to a staff.

The campground owners are very friendly and have fun activities for our annual fall weekend stays. This was our 7th year camping there in October....fun for the whole family. We were able to leave our camper on our site, since we are returning this weekend. Thank you for a great place to camp.

Campground Response

Hi Donna, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review and are more than happy to accommodate our guests as able. We are glad that your family have enjoyed camping here at Big Creek RV Park under previous and new ownership and hope you will continue to enjoy camping here for many years to come. See you again soon, Dave & Laura -owners.
