Join us at The Refuge on Roanoke Island where one may take advantage of our 15 spacious nightly rental sites located on the south side, overlooking the water and offering our guests beautiful views. Our sites feature 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services while accommodating vehicles up to 45 foot long. Enjoy our full service bathhouse, coin laundry facilities as well as air conditioned and heated bathrooms where one will find two showers in both restrooms as well as three toilets and a dual vanity in both facilities.

If you are joining us in the summer time be sure to take advantage of our pool overlooking the sound and pavilion area. We ask that you swim at your own risk as there is no lifeguard on duty. You may find lounge chairs stretching the length of the pool for your comfort. Of course, if you are looking for more active water sports you can make your way down the docks where you will see that the canal reaches to the sound for anyone interested in setting out on a kayak or canoe to enjoy the natural scenery of Roanoke Island.

If you're looking for a more passive approach to enjoy this beautiful setting, feel free to sit back and relax for a picnic lunch at our pavilion. This covered shelter and the surrounding picnic tables provide the perfect ample space to enjoy quality time with other travelers while recaping a lovely day spent on the outer banks of North Carolina. We cannot wait to have you join us here at The Refuge on Roanoke Island. Whether its for a night or two, we hope to see you soon!

This is a lovely little campground. Our site backed onto a small lake that has a boardwalk around some of it. The grounds looked well kept & the bathrooms were nice & clean. There is only 1 washer & dryer, but I did not have to wait when I needed to use it. The camp host is very friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay again!!

Was a very nice and was very quiet when we were there. The laundry and bathrooms and showers were great. It does get windy there, would stay there again.

Excellent beautiful campground! Level full hookup site~ very clean bath house. Park host personality visited each site to make sure everything was okay. Very tasty restaurant near by. Definitely will stop again if I’m in the area.

Lovely, clean and peaceful. Easy access. Beautiful boardwalk through the marsh with benches for birdwatching or just relaxing. Park Manager is very friendly and helpful. Gravel, mostly level sites. Some long termers but very tidy.

This is our favorite campground. Quite with beautiful views and close to all the beach attractions. Love this place!

This place has been declining over the last few years. Very few exterior lights were working this recent visit. The shower drain was backing up so you were standing in water by the time you finished. Sites are stone with grass butting up to your camper, so they mow and weed-eat up to your rig. Last time we were there, the weed-eater put a slice in my sewer hose. Guess how I found that out..! This time he hit one of my stabilizers. Very few people would actually pick up after their dog. I only go because it is convenient to where I want to be. Might move on to NPS Oregon Inlet next time.

Small place but sites were good sized, just a little short for 40’ 5th wheel because it’s a tight back in to maneuver. No dog park. There is only 1 washer/dryer in a closet at restroom/shower building. Top floor. I didn’t use because it was already full of quarters I found out after loading. There was a septic issue. Unsure if it was in desperate need of pumping or pump was broke but it wasn’t pleasant. Owner came out and it was taken care of. There seemed to be confusion on site assignments and concerns over the septic issue with the manager. The little lake is nice and it’s a cute place, unsure if I’d stay again.

We had a little problem with a bad septic pump, and it wasn't great the whole stay BUT the campground manager did a great job working thru the problem and the owner came out as well and made sure we were happy. If you camp enough, something will go wrong at a campground but all I can ask is the owner/staff is involved and do their best to make it better....and that is exactly what the manager and owner did!! We will go back there again

Lovely clean, well maintained campground with sites right on the lake. The location is central to points of interest up and down the OBX and a quick drive to the beach and Bodie Lighthouse. Kathy, the campground manager was very friendly and accommodating. Despite the weather (lots of wind) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!

Excellent campground right on the water. Boardwalk was nice to take a stroll and watch the fishermen enjoying their catch and release. Kathy was amazing and came by several times to make sure that we had what we needed and to offer our dog treats! Will definitely come back and stay longer if we can. Highly recommend this campground!

This mostly permanent resident park is a good location to access the Outer Banks. Waaaaaaay overpriced for amenities provided during off season. PROS Manager Kathy was helpful, sending text hours before arrival with site number, WIFI password and toilet-shower door combo…. Great water view from site…. Great dark sky viewing as there are no street lights in park…. Climate controlled toilet/shower facility very clean and sufficiently stocked with TP, hand soap and paper towels…. Moveable wooden picnic table…. Gravel parking pad surrounded by grass… Sites had a bit more space between the next site compared to other private RV parks… Trash dumpster next to toilet/shower building…. WIFI worked great…. Nice boardwalk with benches along savannah…. CONS Nonstop road noise as our site 6 was at one of three park exit/entrances which was 50 yards from Highway 345…. Site 6 uneven…. Had to use plumber tape to prevent site water connection leak…. No security gate to control entry via 3 entrances…. Woke up to people eating breakfast at our picnic table who has pulled into our site to catch some sleep and move on so they didn’t have to pay for a site. They used the bushes to relieve themselves…. No shade for sites along lakefront…. No privacy from next site…. One coin washer and dryer in toilet/shower building…. Charged a Processing Fee and a Platform Fee totaling $15.97…. No senior, veteran or club discounts…. No campfires to include solo stoves and propane fire pits…. Unable to select site when making reservations and site assigned upon day of arrival….

It was not our first stay and we have stayed in almost the same lot twice. My only complaint is that the lots by the road are pretty noisy as the road noise isn't muffled. Also the gentleman next too us was very kind but was gone most of the day and left a window open to his camper and his 2 dogs barked constantly to any noise.

The RV park itself is nice with several places to walk your dog that were nicely maintained. The pool area, though closed, was also well kept and there are extensive wooden walkways to fish from or enjoy the views. Management was unprofessional to say the least but once we got past the minor error of numbers being mixed up, the rest of our stay was enjoyable.
